Ancient Signs makes custom-made handcrafted signs inspired by Italian tradition.
From our craft workshop near Turin, we design and produce unique signs in-house for shops, historic workshops, clubs, hotels and restaurants, operating in Italy and abroad.
Each sign is born from craftsmanship, quality materials and attention to detail, to restore aesthetic value and identity to businesses and their territory.
Antiche Insegne: craft tradition and visual identity
Antiche Insegne is a craft company specialising in the production of customised handcrafted signs, active for over 30 years.
From the very beginning, the objective was clear: bringing back to cities the aesthetic, cultural and identity value of the signs of yesteryear, counteracting the visual standardisation of industrial signs, anonymous neon and low-quality materials.
Handcrafted signs inspired by Italian history
Our inspiration comes from observing the historic Italian villages, old shops and signs that told of a trade, a family, a place.
Every project takes shape from here:
study of period photographs, drawing of templates, research into materials and manual experimentation.
Each sign is designed to dialogue with the architecture, the urban context and the identity of the activity.
How we make our signs
In our workshop we make signs flat or convex, glossy or matt, with embossed edges made using traditional techniques.
We work aluminium, iron and glass, using brushes, craft brackets, printing, gold leaf and techniques of controlled ageing, to achieve an authentic and timeless result.
Each project is followed in-house, with no external machining.
This allows us to maintain total quality control, on the aesthetics and consistency of the end result.
A craft workshop near Turin
Our production site is located in Piedmont, a stone's throw from Turin.
Here we manage the entire production cyclegraphic design, craftsmanship, finishing and shipping.
We work daily with customers throughout Italy and abroad, while maintaining strong roots in the territory and local craftsmanship.

We collaborate with Teachers, Graphic Studios, businesses, historic shops, clubs, hotels, restaurants, architects and designers.
Over time we have built a network of over 500 dealers in Italy and worldwide, always maintaining the same approach: true craftsmanship, customisation and attention to detail.
We do not mass produce: each sign is unique
